About me

My name is Jackson Lucas, I am a programmer, currently looking for work in tech.

Programming Past

I got into programming after watching an episode of Good Game Spawn Point, where they showed off how to make a Space Invaders game. Under the username UltraInvader on Scratch, I begin making whatever came into my mind. This lasted until around high-school, where the rest of school would take up "most" of my time. Then, AIE came to our school for a career expo day, and the rest was history. I took 2 Cert III courses, one each in programming and design, in years 10 & 11. I made games in my digital tech classes, applying what I had learnt in my courses. After school, I went straight on to study at AIE, where I would take on their Programming Diploma. And now we're at today. I am currently looking for work while working part time, but for now I'm keeping my skills sharp with projects like this (even if some won't see the light of day).

Hobbies & Interests

I spend most of my spare time either gaming or playing Yu-Gi-Oh. Typically, I enjoy games with lots of skill expression. Games that offer many ways to tinker and tweak stats and abilities really stratch an itch in my brain. Destiny 2 was a game I played heaps because of this - as I'm on Linux now I can't play it :(. Customising my warlock for the most silly builds was so fun, and then seeing that build work, its great. I enjoy Yu-Gi-Oh for similar reasons. While I may not have the greatest gamesense, building a deck and balencing interaction and combo pieces is really fun. Something about rogue deck apeals to me, not a big fan of playing the meta decks.
I listen to music often, typically metal and rock, but sometimes EDM or dance, really anything high-energy. Here are some of my favourite bands and my favourite album from them:
